Mantras for Communities

Posted on: 13 October '11

Communities are born, they flourish, they get staid, some die, some reinvent. In almost a decade of experience nurturing over 50 communities at MindTree, we have found out that ‘energized community champions’ and ‘learning’ (outside classrooms and projects) are the two most essential ingredients to reinvention.

Here is a cartoon we used to help champions and community anchors find ways of keeping their communities vibrant. Shadab Lari supported by Sachin Sharma from my team, constantly looks out for flagging energy and run out to inject some.

In our role of nurturing communities and helping champions flourish, we find this an interesting challenge. We do not have an agenda apart from seeding positive energy and helping them with logistics. We have seen people align to business goals almost magically. We can’t attribute it to anything else but good people.

Knowledge Management Community

  • Geetha Chandar

    Dear Mr. Sagar,

The Magical Seven Mantras have obviously worked really well for you and all the MindTree Minds! Thank you for sharing them.

Heartiest congratulations on winning the Asian Most Admired Knowledge Enterprise Award for Fourth Consecutive Year.

Somebody needs to tell Innovation speaker and seminar leader, Mr. Tucker about MindTree and your acclaimed Knowledge Management function. 🙂

“Beyond a seldom-used suggestion system for cost-saving ideas, most companies have no way to stimulate or harvest the good ideas of their people.” ~ Robert B. Tucker

    Thanks and regards,

    Geetha

    • Thank you Geetha for your kind words. Muralidharan, my colleague, and I were at Seoul this week to collect the awards. I have to thank the KNOW network and Teleos for recognizing us. I heard some business leaders (other MAKE awardees) from Asia speak about their interesting KM journeys. I plan to write a blog on that as well. Stay tuned.

Very impressive contribution. So easy to comprehend when represented through such mode of communication. Thank you very much.

    • Thank you Sunil.
Yes, and I have to thank Niloufer Wadia who helps convert our ideas into visual treats that are so easy to digest. She is a partner we are so proud to work with.
